Elmhurst Memorial Hospital was founded in 1926 as the first hospital in DuPage County. [5] The Memorial Parade has run every Memorial Day since 1918. [1] Evanston Hospital expanded to 475 beds during the 1940s and established intensive care, cardiac care, kidney dialysis center and neonatology units.
