European mouflon have a body length of up to 120 cm, a shoulder height of 90 cm, a weight of 25 to 40 kg for ewes, 35 to 55 kg for the ram. The European mouflon has a smooth hairy coat, the rams are fox red-brown in the summer, usually with a whitish saddle patch, the ewes are brownish. Both sexes are darker in winter.

Hoang Lien National Park is Vietnam's mountainous Northwest and includes Fansipan, the highest mountain in Vietnam and on the Indochinese Peninsula. [4]The total area of the core national park is 29,845 hectares (115.23 sq mi), which includes a strict protected area of 11,875 ha; a "forest rehabilitation area" of 17,900 ha; and an administration services area of 70 ha. Ba Vi mountain within the park, developed as a hill station is a three-humped peak of Vua (1,296 metres (4,252 ft)), Tan Vien (1,227 metres (4,026 ft)) with a temple on top dedicated to the mountain god, and Ngoc Hoa (1,131 metres (3,711 ft)). The mountains rise steeply above the surrounding plain of generally 30 metres (98 ft) elevation.
The Armenian mouflon was first described in 1840 by Edward Blyth, who equated it with the "Orientalische Schaaf" (Oriental sheep) described by Samuel Gottlieb Gmelin in 1774.
