The 2025 Biathlon World Championships took place from 12 to 23 February 2025 at the Roland Arena in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. [1]The event was the highlight of the 2024–25 Biathlon World Cup, but was not included in its rankings (except for the national rankings).

The 2023–24 Biathlon World Cup (official: BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon) was a multi-race series over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
The Biathlon World Cup is a top-level biathlon season-long competition series. It has been held since the winter seasons of 1977–78 for men and 1982–83 for women. The women's seasons until 1986–87 season were called the European Cup, although participation was not restricted to Europeans.
In the men's 2020–21 Biathlon World Cup total score, for each participating athlete the points earned in all Individual, Sprint, Pursuit and Mass start competitions held during the season are added up with the four lowest scores subtracted at the end of the season to give that athlete's final score.
The Women's sprint competition at the Biathlon World Championships 2024 was held on 9 February 2024. [1] [2]Denise Herrmann-Wick was the defending champion, but she has already ended her career in the 2022–23 season.
The individual race is the oldest biathlon event; the distance is skied over five laps. The biathlete shoots four times at any shooting lane, in the order of prone, standing, prone, standing, totalling 20 targets.
