Beginning in 1981, La Maison Simons began an expansion across Quebec. In 2012, the company expanded its business to the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta first, before opening several more stores across Canada. The success of the location at the West Edmonton Mall led to the company being sought out as a key anchor tenant at malls across Canada.
In May 2024, Westmount Centre gave 30-day end of tendency notices to stores located on one side of the hallway between Safeway and Smitty’s in the southeast portion of the mall. No official explanation was given but several tenants believed that recent leaks from the roof above the abandoned theatre complex on the second floor was the cause.
The former food court area and stores on the lower level were converted to parking. Hudson's Bay closed on June 3, 2021. Sport Chek closed on March 12, 2023, leaving the mall to two remaining main anchors, Winners and Landmark Cinemas , as well as smaller anchors such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Dollarama .
