One, the driver, writes code while the other, the observer or navigator, [1] reviews each line of code as it is typed in. The two programmers switch roles frequently.
This can be more related to pair programming and exploratory testing of agile software development where two team members are sitting together to test the software application. This will help both the members to learn more about the application. This will narrow down the root cause of the problem while continuous testing.
The pairs are not fixed; programmers switch partners frequently, so that everyone knows what everyone is doing, and everybody remains familiar with the whole system, even the parts outside their skill set.
