A trainer of graded stakes race winners and licensed since 1987, she has won multiple trainer titles at major race meets in the eastern United States.
In 2019 the New York Racing Association with the influx of racino dollars created a new racing series for three-year-old fillies called the Turf Tiara. The Jockey Club Oaks Invitational Stakes was positioned as the third and last leg of the new three race series held over the long distance of 1 + 3 ⁄ 8 miles with an impressive purse of US$700,000.
The winning time continues to this day to be the stakes record. [2] After being classified as a Listed event in 1999 it became the first graded Thoroughbred stakes race in Texas. [3] In 2001, Dixie Dot Com became the only horse to win in the same year the Texas Mile and the Lone Star Park Handicap, known as "The Texas Two Step."
Since inception, the race has been run at three different distances: [1] 1 mile on turf: 1997–present; 1 + 1 ⁄ 8 miles on dirt: 1991–1996; 1 + 1 ⁄ 4 miles on dirt: 1988–1990; Originally restricted to three-year-olds on the dirt, with the modification to one mile on turf in 1997 the race was also made open to older horses.
