The History Channel's original logo used from January 1, 1995, to February 15, 2008, with the slogan "Where the past comes alive." In the station's early years, the red background was not there, and later it sometimes appeared blue (in documentaries), light green (in biographies), purple (in sitcoms), yellow (in reality shows), or orange (in short form content) instead of red.
The series was first released in 1999, and had been produced on a semi-regular basis continuing through at least 2005. The program was conceived, created and once directed by producer Steven Jack who also directed a majority of the episodes. Although the hour-long programs were made for television most episodes were shot on 35mm film. [2]
