Horry County (pronounced OR-ree) was created from Georgetown District in 1801. At this time, the county had an estimated population of 550. The Southern Evacuation Lifeline (SELL) is a proposed 28-mile (45 km) [1] limited-access highway in Horry County, South Carolina, in the United States. [2] The project is currently underfunded, expecting to cost around $600 million, [3] and issues with the route itself still remain, as it would travel directly next to several wildlife preserves.
