All Time Top 1000 Albums is a book by Colin Larkin, creator and editor of the Encyclopedia of Popular Music.The book was first published by Guinness Publishing in 1994. The list presented is the result of over 200,000 votes cast by the public in record shops, universities, schools and the French music trade show MIDEM – and ranked in order.
In 2013, a sister category titled Best Progressive R&B Album, then titled Best Urban Contemporary Album was debuted. The award goes to the artist, producer and engineer/mixer, provided they are credited with at least 50% of playing time on the album. (The lead performing artist is the only one who receives the official nomination).

Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by Billboard magazine that ranks R&B and hip-hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Luminate. From November 30, 1963 to January 23, 1965 there was no Billboard R&B singles chart. Some publications have used Cashbox magazine's stats in their place. No specific reason has ever been given as to why Billboard ceased releasing R&B charts, but the prevailing wisdom is that the chart methodology used was being questioned, since more and more white acts were reaching number-one on the R&B chart.
