Giles Capel married firstly, Isobel Newton (died 1511), a daughter of Richard Newton (d. 1501) and his wife Elizabeth (d. 1524), widow of John St John (a son of Margaret Beauchamp of Bletso). Isobel was a granddaughter of John Newton alias Craddock (d. 1488) of Yatton and Isobel Cheddar (d. 1498), and a great granddaughter of Sir Richard Newton .
John Newton (/ ˈ nj uː t ən /; 4 August [O.S. 24 July] 1725 – 21 December 1807) was an English evangelical Anglican cleric and slavery abolitionist.He had previously been a captain of slave ships and an investor in the slave trade.
The book was published on the 150th anniversary of the publication of the first LDS hymnbook, compiled by Emma Smith in 1835. Previous hymnbooks used by the church include The Manchester Hymnal (1840), The Psalmody (1889), Songs of Zion (1908), Hymns (1927), and Hymns (1948).
John Newton was an only child, and was a self-educated sea captain, at one time captaining slave ships. Newton's conversion occurred during a violent storm at sea on 10 March 1748. He describes the event in his autobiography, An Authentic Narrative (published 1764), and thereafter marked the anniversary of his conversion as a day of thanksgiving.
