Kachin State (Burmese: ကချင်ပြည်နယ်; Kachin: Jinghpaw Mungdaw) is the northernmost state of Myanmar.It is bordered by China to the north and east (Tibet and Yunnan, respectively), Shan State to the south, and Sagaing Region and India (Arunachal Pradesh) to the west.
Kachin peoples, a generalised term for six non-Burman ethno-linguistic groups in Kachin State.. Kachin people, including the main sub-branch of the Kachin people, for whom the term Jingpo (used in Yunnan, China) and Kachin (used in Myanmar) are considered interchangeable, and the Singpho people, members of the ethnic group living in Yunnan and Arunachal Pradesh, India.
This is the definition adopted by the government of Myanmar, who consider the Jinghpo one of the country's 135 officially recognized ethnic groups. The Jingpo Nation or Jinghpo Pongyong also includes all speakers of varieties belonging to the Zaiwa cluster of Northern Burmish languages , who speak Jingpo as their secondary language.
Standard Jinghpaw is the standard variety of Jinghpaw as used among the Kachin people in Myanmar, as well as by non-Kachin ethnic minorities in Kachin State. Most speakers live in Kachin State, though some live in Shan State and Sagaing Division. It is spoken primarily in Myitkyina, Bhamo, and Kutkai.
Manaw Festival (Burmese: မနောပွဲ, Jinghpaw: Manau Poi) is an annual traditional dance festival celebrated by Kachin people.Mostly held at Myitkyina, Kachin State also known as မနောမြေ( Manaw Land ) in Myanmar and also celebrated by Kachin people around the world.
