The Kingdom of Holland (Dutch: Koningrijk Holland (contemporary), Koninkrijk Holland (modern); French: Royaume de Hollande) was the successor state of the Batavian Republic. It was created by Napoleon Bonaparte in March 1806 in order to strengthen control over the Netherlands by replacing the republican government with a monarchy.
He chose the name "Holland", after the most important province, as "Hollande" was much used in France as a name for the Netherlands. The statute [1] described the royal arms and mentioned a royal crown. On 20 May 1807 [2] a precise drawing of the royal coat of arms was approved by the king. The crown was topped with an orb with a cross.

The Kingdom of Holland lasted only four years. Though Louis performed his role beyond all expectations, and did his best to defend the interests of his subjects, for precisely this reason Napoleon decided that the Netherlands could no longer be denied the benefits of reunion with his Empire, over the objections of Louis.
