Milton (2021 census population 132,979) is a town in Southern Ontario, Canada, and part of the Halton Region in the Greater Toronto Area. Between 2001 and 2011, Milton was the fastest growing municipality in Canada, with a 71.4% increase in population from 2001 to 2006 and another 56.5% increase from 2006 to 2011.

The Regional Municipality of Halton was established on 1 January 1974 as the successor to the former Halton County by the Regional Municipality of Halton Act, 1973. [4] From 1 January 2003, it has been governed by the Municipal Act.
As a politician, he has served the Town of Milton since first being elected as a councillor in 1965. [8] Up until being elected mayor on November 10, 1980, he was the municipal councillor for Ward Two and had served five years as vice-chairman of the Halton Region Conservation Authority and seven years as the vice-president of the Halton Community Credit Union.
