The first library constructed in the Northwest Georgia Regional Library System was the Calhoun-Gordon library which was constructed through efforts of the Calhoun Woman's Club in 1904. The Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library System was established in 2013 when Warren, Columbia, and Lincoln counties left the now-defunct East Central Georgia Regional Library System headquartered in Augusta, Georgia. This move was due to a change in director in 2012 at the central Augusta-Richmond library. [5]
Valdosta-Lowndes Library introduced a new 32,000 square foot, $450,000 building to the regional system in 1968, dedicated as the Valdosta-Lowndes County Public Library. [ 10 ] Also in 1968, Branch No. 1 moved from the Hudson-Dockett Public Housing Project into the old Carnegie Library.
