The Chicago Faucet Company, founded on the near-west side of Chicago, Illinois, United States, has been producing faucets and other plumbing fixtures since 1901. [4] The company founder, Albert C. Brown, invented the Quaturn Cartridge in 1913 that worked with the flow of water to make it both easy to open and close the spigots and forestalled leak development.
South of the Anaconda Company from 1920 to 1985 was the USS Lead plant, which smelted mined ore to refine it for various uses. In 1973 USS Lead switched from refining ore to salvaging lead out of batteries and scrap metal. [2] In 1970, the Anaconda Company was demolished and replaced by the residential West Calumet Housing Complex (WCHC).

Clayton Mark (June 30, 1858 – July 7, 1936), one of the pioneer makers of steel pipe in the United States, was an industrialist in the Chicago area who founded the Mark Manufacturing Company in 1888, a firm for the fabrication and sale of water-well supplies and Clayton Mark and Company in 1900.
Like many East Chicago neighborhoods (including Roxana and Marktown), the residential part of Calumet is surrounded by industrial land: [1] the Indiana Harbor and Ship Canal to the west, the Chicago Avenue industrial corridor to the north, a Citgo tank farm to the east, and the DuPont site and USS Lead site to the south.
