The Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, New York was a building and a psychiatric facility for adults operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health. It was closed in January 2012, and patients were moved to Rockland Psychiatric Center. [1]

The campus is notable for its main building, known as a "Kirkbride," which has been designated a National Historic Landmark due to its exemplary High Victorian Gothic architecture, the first use of that style for an American institutional building.
Rockland State Hospital was originally established in 1926 by the State of New York. [3] Dr. Russell Blaisdell was appointed the hospital's first superintendent in July 1930, and its first patients were admitted in January 1931. [3]
