The N3 then heads to the north, and passes the town of Warden and heads towards Villiers, where a tollgate is located right before the R26 Villiers off-ramp (Wilge Toll Plaza). Immediately after Villers, the N3 crosses the Vaal River and enters Mpumalanga. Here, it becomes a dual carriageway again and remains one for its remainder.
East of Frankfort, the R26 becomes its own road, going north-north-east for 28 kilometres, meeting the eastern terminus of the R716 road, to the town of Villiers, where it ends at an off-ramp junction with the N3 national route and the R103 route just north of the N3's Wilge Toll Plaza and just south of the N3's Vaal River Bridge.

Warden is a town situated in the Free State province of South Africa on the N3 highway between Johannesburg and Durban. The town is 56 km north of Harrismith and 106 kilometres (66 mi) south-south-east of Villiers. It was laid out on the farm Rietvlei in 1912, proclaimed in 1913, and attained municipal status in 1920.
