The university was established on 23 August 1958. The university is spread in 725 acres making it the largest University in Maharashtra India terms of total area. Since its inception, the university has around 456 colleges affiliated [1] to it in four districts (Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed and Osmanabad) of Maharashtra State.
The institute is permanently affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Aurangabad, and is approved by AICTE, Delhi, and DTE Maharashtra. NAAC has accredited the institute with Grade ‘A’. [1] MIT received recognition under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956. UGC granted it autonomous status.
After 1963, it was affiliated to the newly formed Marathwada University (now Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University) located at Aurangabad. The admission strength of college was subsequently increased to 100 undergraduate students per year and now it is allowed to take 200 MBBS students per year.
