Somerville (/ ˈ s ʌ m ər v ɪ l / SUM-ər-vil) is a city located directly to the northwest of Boston, and north of Cambridge, in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States.As of the 2020 United States Census, the city had a total population of 81,045 people.
This was completed in 1867, and the High School moved into the vacant space. This too was quickly outgrown, and a new Somerville High School was built in 1871, and dedicated in 1872. Also in 1871, the Massachusetts legislature reincorporated Somerville as a city, which was approved by the voters, which was to take effect on January 1, 1872.

In 1930 the Second Unitarian Church of Somerville, organized in 1891, merged with the First Unitarian Church. [8] In 1975 the congregation was dissolved and in 1976 the building was purchased by the Mission Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, an Apostolic Pentacostalist church, which continues to occupy it in 2022.
