Grand Mound is a prehistoric burial site in Koochiching County, Minnesota, United States. It is the largest surviving prehistoric structure in the upper Midwest, dating back to 200 BCE. [ 2 ] The site was listed as a National Historic Landmark on June 23, 2011.
Minnesota was divided into a south-eastern area including the Twin-Cities with area code 612 and the rest of the state in the south-west, north, and north-east with area code 218. [2] In 1954, the southern half of 612 was designated a separate numbering plan area with area code 507 as the third area code for the state.
This area includes habitation sites and mound groups, believed to date between 3000 BC and 1750 AD, that document Sioux Indian culture and Ojibwe-Sioux relationships. Now a state park, it contains 19 identified archaeological sites, making it one of the most significant archaeological collections in Minnesota.

Tremper Mound and Works: The Tremper Mound and Works are an Ohio Hopewell (100 BCE to 500 CE) earthen enclosure and large, irregularly shaped mound. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
