[1] Philadelphia's Joseph Horn (1861–1941) and German-born, New Orleans -raised Frank Hardart (1850–1918) opened their first restaurant in Philadelphia, on December 22, 1888.
Over its history, the restaurant expanded to include three dining rooms and remained in the Sokolowski family through three generations.
