The Djinn chair is a piece of furniture in the Modernist style, created by French designer Olivier Mourgue in the 1960s. [1] [2] Originally called the "Low fireside chair", [2] it is also commonly referred to as the "2001 chair", because of its prominent appearance in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The set was a gift of the Herman Miller Company, donated in 1960. [citation needed] A rosewood Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman are on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. The material of the chair, Zenaloy, which is polyester reinforced with fiberglass, was first developed by the US Army during World War II.
