Portrait of Alexandra of Denmark is an 1864 portrait painting by the German artist Franz Xaver Winterhalter. [1] [2] [3] It depicts Alexandra of Denmark, then Princess of Wales as the wife of the future Edward VII. Alexandra had arrived in Britain from her native Denmark the previous year for her wedding.
No portrait painter had ever enjoyed such an extraordinary royal patronage as Winterhalter; only Rubens, Van Dyck and Thomas Lawrence worked as he did in an international network. Winterhalter sought respite from the pressures of his work with holidays abroad in Italy, Switzerland, and above all Germany.
Portrait of Prince Albert is an 1859 portrait painting by the German artist Franz Xaver Winterhalter depicting Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the husband of Queen Victoria and Prince Consort of the United Kingdom. [1] [2] It was the last of several portraits Winterhalter painted of Albert before the prince's death in 1860.

Portrait of Napoleon III was an oil on canvas painting by the German portrait painter Franz Xaver Winterhalter, created in 1853. It was an official portrait of the French Emperor Napoleon III, who reigned as Emperor of the Second French Empire from 1852 to 1870. The work had the dimensions of 240 cm high and 155 cm wide.
Winterhalter not only painted the official portraits of the British royal house but also dedicated himself to producing private images, as is the case with this work that was commissioned as a surprise gift from Queen Victoria to her husband Prince Albert on the occasion of his twenty-fourth birthday. Albert well appreciated the portrait.
Winterhalter follows the examples from the 18th century when such a costume was more common and worn at costume balls. [3] [4] Winterhalter made at least three portraits of Countess Potocka in the period 1854 to 1858. The whereabouts of the third portrait is unknown and it has presumably been lost. The second is also in Warsaw.
