FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition. Each year, teams of high school students, coaches, and mentors work during a six-week period to build robots capable of competing in that year's game that weigh up to 115 pounds (52 kg). [4]
The 2020 season was the first season without an enforced six-week build period, with teams able to work on their robot at any time after kickoff. [3] However, teams are in general not permitted to work on their robot outside of pit hours during an event the team in question is competing at.
Teams use their robot to pick up and score power cells into lower, upper, and inner ports, similar to the teleop period of a standard match. Teams are scored based on the number of power cells successfully scored into a port in five minutes, with the upper and inner ports worth more points.
