Chesterfield Football Club is a professional association football club based in the town of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. The team competes in EFL League Two , the fourth level of the English football league system , after winning the 2023–24 National League title.
On 25 April, Chesterfield announced their first pre-season friendly, against Matlock Town. [38] A month later, home fixtures against Sheffield United and Derby County were also confirmed. [ 39 ] [ 40 ] On June 21, a fourth friendly fixture was added, against Scunthorpe United . [ 41 ]

On 9 June 2009, John Sheridan was named as manager of Chesterfield in League Two. Signing a three-year contract with the club, he appointed Tommy Wright as assistant manager and Mark Crossley as coach. [1] Chesterfield finished eighth in League Two. At the end of the season, the club left Saltergate, and moved to the newly built B2net Stadium. [2]
After the initial Chesterfield Football Club folded in 1881, a number of other local football teams used the pitch until the establishment of a second Chesterfield F.C. in 1884, later known as Chesterfield Town. The first recorded attendance, from Boxing Day 1889, put the crowd at 400 for a game against Sheffield Heeley Reserves. [12]
The first Chesterfield F.C. was founded in the mid-1860s and survived until 1881, long before league football existed. The second incarnation, which became known as Chesterfield Town F.C., was formed in 1884. [1] Its first team joined and won the Sheffield & District League in 1891–92, [2] and first entered the FA Cup the following season.

Built by the Supporters' Club and now maintained by the Chesterfield FC Community Trust, the Garden is adjacent to the HUB. The Garden is intended as a memorial to fans and players of Chesterfield FC It also includes a war memorial recognising the seventeen football club players and officials who died in the wars of the 20th century.
