The Michigan Theatre at 124 North Mechanic Street in Jackson, Michigan opened in 1930 and was designed by Maurice Herman Finkel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1980, and is undergoing renovations as of 2005.

The Purple Rose Theatre Company is a 501(c) non-profit regional theater located in Chelsea, Michigan. It was founded in 1991 [ 1 ] by actor and playwright Jeff Daniels . [ 2 ] Its name comes from the 1985 film The Purple Rose of Cairo , [ 3 ] which starred Daniels and for which he earned his first Golden Globe nomination.
