Charity Adams Earley (née Adams; December 5, 1918 – January 13, 2002) was a United States Army officer. She was the first African-American woman to become an officer in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (later WACs) and was the commanding officer of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, which was made up of African-American women serving overseas during World War II.
Earle Davis Gregory was born in Clayville, Virginia on October 18, 1897. Gregory was raised in Chase City, Virginia and graduated from Fork Union Military Academy. He entered Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1919, graduating with the Class of 1923. While at VPI, he studied Electrical Engineering.

He was awarded the Alumni Distinguished Teaching Award in 1987. [2] He retired from Ohio State in 1995 as a professor emeritus of history.

As adjutant general, he commanded the Virginia Army National Guard, Virginia Air National Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force. Williams is the co-author of, Let’s Go!
