This block within a bend of the Sheboygan River was once the first permanent settlement in Sheboygan County, clustered around a mill. [19] It consists of the 1837 Mill House, [ 20 ] the 1842 Charles Cole home, the 1846 Cole Brothers house, [ 21 ] the 1846 Thorp Hotel, [ 22 ] and the 1848 Cole Store [ 23 ] - all in Greek Revival style.
The Moravian Grist Mill, built from stone in 1770, was the first permanent building in the village. [3] It was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) in 1942. [5] The mill complex is now the Inn at Millrace Pond. [6] The Gemeinhaus or Moravian Church is a two and one-half story stone structure built in 1781.

Controls for the machinery were located on the first level, the grinding process took place on the second level and sifting and grain storage were located on the third and fourth levels.

The Adams Gristmill Warehouse is a historic industrial building on Bridge Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont.Built about 1925 by Frank Adams & Co., proprietors of the Adams Gristmill, it is a well-preserved example of a functional railroad-related industrial warehouse.
Eagle Hotel opened in the late 1830s to accommodate farmers traveling to Wilmington to use the local grist mill. The Chicago and Alton Railroad and U.S. Route 66 were later constructed near the hotel, providing further commerce.
