In the county, the population was spread out, with 24.70% under the age of 18, 9.70% from 18 to 24, 29.00% from 25 to 44, 22.90% from 45 to 64, and 13.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.60 males.
The median age in the city was 46.9 years. 25.3% of residents were under the age of 18; 4.8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 16.7% were from 25 to 44; 33.3% were from 45 to 64; and 19.9% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.1% male and 51.9% female.
Interstate 70 crosses Clay Township east-west in the south and the National Road (US-40) crosses east–west just north of I-70. OH-49, also known as Dayton-Greenville Pike is a main north–south connector from Greenville to the north in Darke County to I-70.
