Texas County is a county located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,487. [2] Its county seat is Houston. [3] The county was organized in 1843 as Ashley County. Its name was changed in 1845 to Texas County, after the Republic of Texas.

Pierce Township is a township in Texas County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] Pierce Township was first called "Jack's Fork Township", and under the latter name was established in 1852, and named after the creek of the same name within its borders. [2] The present name, adopted in 1854, honors J. W. Pierce, a pioneer citizen. [2]
