Most apartments for UW students require a one year lease, so you're probably better off looking for a sublease if you're dead set on 3 months. There is a large Facebook group for subleasing in madison, I recommend looking at that.
Southeast dorms are louder in general. Witte and Sellery are "the party dorms". People party much more often, especially on the weekends including Thursday. So my daughter is admitted for Fall 2021 and we are talking about housing. She is uncomfortable with room share and bathroom share, and I do not believe UW Madison on-campus housing has apartment style accommodations. So I am looking for ideas/suggestion on off-campus apartments - studio or 1-BR.
The only grad housing run by UW is the apartments at Eagle Heights, which most people generally try to avoid. A lot of grad students end up living on the near east side (Willy/Atwood neighborhood), around the Capitol, or areas just down University Ave since you can bus or bike to campus pretty easily from those three areas.

Sophomore Housing. I’m a transfer student coming in with 30 credits, so I will be a sophomore starting at UW Madison in the fall. I’m super excited to get to campus! I’ve been trying to find out where most sophomores live. From what I’ve seen, many sophomores choose to live in off campus apartments.
