Seymour is a city in Jackson County, Indiana, United States.Its population was 21,569 at the 2020 census. The northern portion is a north–south road in Bartholomew and Jackson counties. Its southern terminus is at State Road 250 in the small town of Dudleytown a few miles south of Seymour; the highway runs north through Seymour to Columbus, a distance of about 26 miles (42 km), and ends where it meets Indiana State Road 46.
In downtown Seymour, the highway becomes a four-lane highway with a center turn lane and it has a short concurrency with SR 11. The route leaves downtown Seymour heading east passing through commercial properties and having an interchange with I–65 (coincidentally also numbered Exit 50).

From here, it runs east to State Road 11 in Seymour, a distance of approximately 13 miles (21 km). State Road 258 runs east from Freetown, while its parent route State Road 58 angles to the northeast on its way to the Columbus area.
