The Boston Eagles women's ice hockey program was launched in 1994, under head coach Tom O'Malley, who oversaw the development of the program for five years. In 1999, Tom Babson took the helm and coached for four seasons.
In four years as head coach of the women's ice hockey program at Boston College, Mutch continued building what had, only a few years before, been an afterthought of a program. During the 2006–2007 season, Mutch led the Boston College Eagles to their first ever NCAA Frozen Four appearance.
The program qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament, ranking as the #6 seed. [1] On January 31, 2021, it marked the 500th game together at BC for head coach Katie Crowley and associate head coach Courtney Kennedy.

In 2003, King became an assistant women's ice hockey coach for the Boston College Eagles women's ice hockey program and was named the head coach in 2007 following the resignation of former head coach Tom Mutch.
She is the former head coach of Buckingham Browne & Nichols girls' varsity ice hockey team. She is the current assistant head coach of Boston College Eagles women's ice hockey team. [3] Kennedy is on the executive board of USA Hockey. She is assistant director of the Kennedy School of Hockey. [1]
