Devonshire Downs, sometimes informally called The Downs, was a horse racing track and multipurpose event facility in Northridge, California.It was located at the southwest corner of Devonshire Street and Zelzah Avenue, [1] east of Reseda Boulevard.
In 1952, the state proposed a new satellite campus for Cal State LA, at the time known as Los Angeles State College, and in July 1958, the campus separated from Cal State LA and was renamed San Fernando Valley State College (now known as California State University, Northridge). [20] The first master's degrees were awarded in 1952.
Construction for the original library began on November 14, 1957, marking it as the college's first permanent campus building. Students were permitted to use the building beginning on February 16, 1959, and the library had its official opening on March 3. The library featured four floors, 200,000 books and a capacity of approximately 15,000 people.
Premier America Credit Union Arena, formerly Matador Gymnasium, and formerly known by its nickname the Matadome, is a 2,500 seat, indoor multi-purpose stadium on the campus of California State University, Northridge in Northridge, California.
