The Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM is a premium constant maximum aperture full-frame (FE) zoom lens for the Sony E-mount, announced by Sony on February 3, 2016. [1] [2]Though designed for Sony's full frame E-mount cameras, the lens can be used on Sony's APS-C E-mount camera bodies, with an equivalent full-frame field-of-view of 36-105mm.
The most obvious difference to the predecessor is the lighter weight (695 g vs. 886 g) and more compact body (length 120mm vs. 136mm). Image quality has also increased. DxOMark gave a score of 39 points for the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II and 32 points for its predecessor, both tested on a Sony A7R IV.
Sony released the following SEL (for: Sony E-mount Lens) lenses for Sony E-mount cameras since 2010. They are also compatible with Hasselblad E-mount cameras. Some of the lenses introduced into the line have been developed in cooperation with Carl Zeiss (as indicated).
