Saltlick Creek is a tributary of the Little Kanawha River, 17.7 miles (28.5 km) long, [3] located in central West Virginia in the United States.Via the Little Kanawha and Ohio rivers, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River, draining an area of 49 square miles (130 km 2) [4] in a rural region on the unglaciated portion of the Allegheny Plateau.
Salt Fork was named for a mineral lick along the creek's course. [5] Plans to dam the creek for use as a water source began in 1956, then switched to planning for use as a recreational area in 1960. An earthen dam was completed in 1967, with the construction of recreational facilities initiated in 1968. Salt Fork Lodge opened in 1972 [4]
