Fruehauf Trailer Corporation, previously Fruehauf Trailer Company (1918–1963) and Fruehauf Corporation (1963–1989), [1] was an American company engaged in the manufacture and sale of truck trailers, and other machinery and equipment, with headquarters located in Detroit, Michigan.

To begin with, Freightliner only built equipment for CF but in 1951 the company contracted Ohio-based White Motor Company to market and sell the excess trucks that CF didn't need, as it expanded, [1] creating the White/Freightliner name. CF also built their own trailers, eliminating the middleman and allowing for costs to stay low.
The U8144T tractor was used to tow semi-trailers with 10-ton or 25-ton ponton bridging equipment. Directly behind the cab was a large toolbox. [25] [26] 2,711 were built between 1941 and 1945, of which 42 went to the Soviet Union under the Lend Lease Act. [27] The U8144 had a similar chassis with van bodies built by York-Hoover.
