Illinois Route 9 (IL 9) is a 218.31-mile-long (351.34 km) cross-state, east–west rural state highway in the central part of the U.S. state of Illinois. It travels from Niota at the Fort Madison Toll Bridge , that crosses the Mississippi River into Iowa , eastward across central Illinois to State Road 26 (SR 26) at the Indiana state line.
US 24/IL 29 joins IL 8/IL 116 eastbound at the foot of the left connector ramp and then continues north. In East Peoria, US 24 follows another series of concurrencies. At Camp Street, US 24/IL 29/IL 116 join US 150 westbound, forming a wrong-way concurrency. IL 8 splits from US 24 and travels east-northeast, along with US 150 eastbound.
Northern terminus of IL 29 at US 6 and IL 89 Illinois 29 runs near the right bank (going down stream) which is (north and west) of the Illinois River from Spring Valley to Peoria. Starting at U.S. 6/Illinois 89 at the north edge of Spring Valley, the road passes through the small towns of Putnam and Henry , intersecting Illinois Route 18 at Henry.

Illinois Route 116A was a 13 miles (21 km) [12] spur of IL 116 that followed what is now part of IL 117. Initially, IL 116A used to directly connect to Benson. [10] In 1932, the route moved slightly west. [14] It remained like this until 1993 when IL 117 extended north to IL 17 north of Toluca, removing IL 116A in the process. [12] [13]
