Strawn is a city in Palo Pinto County, Texas, United States. The population was 540 at the 2020 census . Strawn, on State Highway 16 and 108 , Farm to Market Road 2372 , and the Missouri Pacific Railroad in southwestern Palo Pinto County, was one of several towns developed about 1880 when the Texas and Pacific Railway began service.
State Highway 16 (SH 16) is a 541.823-mile (871.980 km) south–north state highway in Texas, United States. that runs from Zapata on the boundary with Mexico to U.S. Highway 281 24 miles (39 km) south of Wichita Falls. It is the longest state highway in Texas, but is only the ninth-longest of any highway classification in the state. [2]

On March 8, 1926, SH 108 was extended north to Strawn, with a branch to Chalk Mountain added. [5] On June 24, 1931, the section south of Strawn was redesignated as the new state-length SH 66, [6] and the rest was cancelled in exchange of mileage. On July 22, 1932, the section of SH 108 from Stephenville to Strawn was restored. [7]
