Raymond C. Ortlund Jr. (born 1949 [1]) is the former and founding pastor of Immanuel Church in Nashville, Tennessee. [2] He is the son of Renewal Ministries founders Ray and Anne Ortlund . Ortlund has served in pastoral ministry and is the author of several Bible commentaries and other books.
It was formed in 1937 as a result of a schism in the Pilgrim Holiness Church, led by Ralph Goodrich Finch, the former general superintendent of Foreign Missions in that denomination. [4] [5] Adherents are called Emmanuel Methodists. It is one of the oldest denominations in the conservative holiness movement.

Starting in 1955, Miller taught at Ripon Christian School for five years in Ripon, California. He was ordained as a minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in 1959, and worked as a chaplain for several years in Stockton, California. From 1965-1972 he served as the pastor of Mechanicsville Chapel in Mechanicsville, Pennsylvania.
The Immanuel Armenian Congregational Church was founded in 1930 in Los Angeles, California, with the first building on Washington Boulevard. The founding minister was Rev. Aram Yeretzian. It is among the oldest extant California congregations of the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America.
