It covers areas of Redmond, Bellevue (including West Lake Sammamish), and Kirkland, and it encompasses Clyde Hill, Yarrow Point, Hunts Point, and Medina.
Kirkland has a council–manager form of government, with a city manager hired by the city council. The seven councilmembers are elected at-large for staggered four-year terms in non-partisan elections. The city council selects a mayor from among its members, who serves as council chair but has no veto power.
