Kurumba Maldives [1] is a resort on the island of Vihamanaafushi, located in the North Malé Atoll in the Maldives. Managed by Universal Resorts, [ 2 ] Kurumba Maldives is the country's first Maldives resort. [ 3 ]

Villimalé used to be a resort earlier before it became a residential island. In fact it became the second resort to start operations in Maldives, after the first resort in Maldives, Kurumba became over-booked. Between 2010 and 2016 an adolescent drug rehabilitation centre was operated near the public beach of Villimalé. [2]
Tourism in Maldives started with just two resorts with a capacity of about 280 beds. Kurumba Island Resort is the first resort opened in Maldives, followed by Bandos Island Resort which was developed and opened by Ibrahim Nasir, Nasir also personally set up the first tourist agency known as "Crescent Tourist Agency".
