The basilica, located west of downtown Edmonton is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and is the second-largest church in Edmonton. St. St. Joseph, which seats about 1,100 people , [ 1 ] is the only minor basilica in Western Canada .
