Compass is an unincorporated community in West Caln Township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. Compass is located at the intersection of state routes 10 and 340. [2] The community was named after the image of a compass on the sign of a tavern. [3]
Compass Inn is a historic inn and tavern located in Laughlintown, Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It is a 2 1/2-storey, five bay log and stone building in a vernacular Georgian style. The original section was built in 1799, and it is three bays wide. The two bay stone section was added in the 1820s.
In November 2022, work to restore the painting began. It was not possible to physically remove the added drapery without damaging the work, so the restorers planned to create a digital replica of the original version "using ultraviolet light, diagnostic imaging and X-rays to differentiate Gentileschi's brush strokes from those of the artist [who] covered the nudity".
