The artifacts' origins remain uncertain. The Berlin Collection of Classical Antiquities procured these items in 1984, facilitated by the antiquities dealer Christoph Leon, purportedly from the estate of a Basel family. [1] According to the art dealer, the vases were bought by an unknown traveler from Geneva in Naples in the late 19th century.
