W. Timothy Gallwey (born 1938 in San Francisco) is an author who has written a series of books in which he has set forth a methodology for coaching and for the development of personal and professional excellence in a variety of fields that he calls "the Inner Game".
in 1967 Curtiss Gaylord published a book titled Modern Coaching Psychology, the first book to use "coaching psychology" in its title [4] [5] In 1970, James William Moore published The Psychology of Athletic Coaching. [2] [6] In 1976, Tim Gallwey publishes the book, The Inner Game of Tennis [7] [8]
Landsberg also published it a few years later in the 1996 first edition of his book The Tao of Coaching. [5] Elsewhere Whitmore said that the model had been in use for some time before it was given the name GROW. [6] Alan Fine's 2010 book You Already Know How to Be Great claimed that Fine had codeveloped the model with Whitmore and Alexander. [7]
He presented at numerous conferences around the world and contributed to many other books such as Challenging Coaching [11] and Coaching at Work. [ 12 ] In the 1990s, Sir John was a co-founder, along with Eric Parsloe, David Clutterbuck, David Megginson and Julie Hay, of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).
