"El Cóndor Pasa" (pronounced [el ˈkondoɾ pasa], Spanish for "The Condor Passes") is an orchestral musical piece from the zarzuela El Cóndor Pasa by the Peruvian composer Daniel Alomía Robles, written in 1913 and based on traditional Andean music, specifically folk music from Peru.

Daniel Alomía Robles was born in Huánuco, Peru, on January 3, 1871 [1] to Micaela Robles [2] and Marcial Alomía, a French immigrant. [3]Alomía Robles said in an interview in 1942 that his first exposure to music was when he was six years old when his mother took him to hear mass in Huánuco, and he began to sing along with the chorus.
