Sukhwinder Singh (born 18 July 1971) is an Indian playback singer who primarily sings Bollywood songs. He sang "Jai Ho" in the film Slumdog Millionaire, for which he won a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. He has also received two Filmfare awards for his singing.
"Chaiyya Chaiyya" ("[walk] in shade") is an Indian pop-folk song, featured in the soundtrack of the Bollywood film Dil Se.., released in 1998.Based on Sufi music and Urdu poetry, [1] the single was derived from the lyrics of the song "Tere Ishq Nachaya", written by Bulleh Shah, with music composed by A.R. Rahman, written by Gulzar, and sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi.

The soundtrack and background score were provided by Salim–Sulaiman who previously composed Chak De! India and Aaja Nachle (both 2007) for Yash Raj Films.While reading the script Sulaiman claimed that the film was "so well written, conceived with exact places and spots for songs" that were seamlessly integrated, and was briefed on having two distinct identities for the characters.
