Garhi Harsaru is a town and railway station in Gurugram district of Haryana state in India. It lies on the road from Gurugram city to Pataudi town. According to the Census India 2011, it has a population of about 7894 persons of which 4216 are males while 3678 are females living in around 1539 households.
Garhi Harsaru is a main junction in Gurgaon district due to its proximity to Manesar. A branch line towards Farrukhnagar was laid in 1901 on Rajputana–Malwa Railway . For many years, the metre-gauge railway line was used to transport salt by steam engines and was closed in 2004 for gauge conversion.
GDL's rail operations are handled by its subsidiary, Gateway Rail Freight Limited. The ICDs are located at Garhi Harsaru (Gurgaon, Haryana), Sahnewal (Ludhiana, Punjab) and Faridabad, Haryana. In 2010, Blackstone Group had invested ₹ 300 crores in GatewayRail, and then in 2019 GDL bought back the entire shareholding from Blackstone.
