Yes, "Eater" is just Soul's nickname. The livejournal comment that the idiot above me quoted was in response to a rumor that Ohkubo named the series "Soul Eater" in reference to a yet-to-be-revealed villain. No, the series name "Soul Eater" does not refer to a villain. It refers to Soul "Eater" Evans. But "Eater" is still just Soul's nickname.
